Empowering Futures: Our April Back-to-School Initiative in Kajiado County
For many children in the remote stretches of Kajiado County, the start of a new school term brings a mix of hope and anxiety. While a new term represents the opportunity to learn, for many families, it also highlights a lack of basic necessities.
At the Daniel Mwangi Abbott Foundation (DMAF), we believe that no child should miss out on an education because they lack the tools to succeed. This April, we are turning that belief into action.
The Barrier to Education
In underserved communities, starting a school term is about more than just showing up. It is about whether a child has the supplies needed to attend with dignity and confidence.
Currently, the lack of basic items such as:
School uniforms and sturdy shoes
Exercise books and stationery
Essential learning materials
…continues to be a primary driver of absenteeism and, eventually, school dropouts. When a child feels equipped, they feel motivated to stay in the classroom.
Our Goal: Supporting 100 Learners
This April, DMAF is committed to supporting 100 vulnerable learners across Kajiado County. Our “Back-to-School Education Support Initiative” is designed to provide a holistic boost to these students. We aren’t just providing materials; we are providing:
- Essential Supplies: Ensuring every child has the physical tools required by their school.
- Mentorship: Offering guidance and encouragement to help students begin the term with a focused and motivated mindset.
This initiative is a vital piece of our broader commitment to expanding access to quality education and building sustainable pathways for children in Kenya’s underserved communities.
